The Data Entry Specialist is responsible for entering information received from our employees, distributors and servicers regarding warranty claims and other requests into the Precor database. The position requires the candidate to be a self-starter, computer savvy and a fast accurate typist with a keen eye for detail. The Data Entry Specialist reports to the Customer Support Supervisor and works under general supervision. This position involves interaction with other employees within the department and company and interaction with external customers, distributors and servicers.


Essential Job Function


Data Entry

  • Accurately enter warranty request information into various computer programs.
  • Verify data by comparing it to source documents. If additional information is required for processing, contact individuals via oral or written communication.
  • Update existing data as necessary.
  • Retrieve data from the database or electronic files as requested.
  • Analyze data for errors.
  • Maintain data entry requirements by following data program techniques and procedures.
  • Routinely check for discrepancies within the systems and follow company measure to resolve conflicts.
  • Recommend changes to the system if inefficiencies present themselves.

  • Update customer information in Precor database as necessary.
  • Create customer accounts for warranty-processing requests, as required.
  • Retrieve data from the database or electronic files as requested.
  • Keep sensitive customer or company information confidential.

  • Other Areas of responsibilities
  • Maintain proper stocking levels of supplies in Communication Center.
  • Monitor the department’s general voice mail system for messages. Distribute messages appropriately and in a timely fashion.
  • Respond to email inquiries regarding questions relevant to work responsibilities.
  • Assist with research projects, when requested.

Experience and Skills

Any equivalent combination of education and experience, which provides the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the job, will be considered.


  • High School diploma or equivalent GED.
  • Additional training in office skills or general business functions is highly desirable.

  • Must have a minimum 1 year experience working in an office environment.
    • Excellent command of the English language, both oral and written.
    • Must have a professional and congenial phone manner (i.e., tone, vocabulary, etc.)
    • Ability to deal with a fast-paced environment with a high volume of data entry on a consistent basis.
  • Proven experience as a data entry specialist.
  • Keyboarding skills equivalent a minimum of 50 WPM or 12,500 KPH.
  • Basic understanding of databases and Excel spreadsheets.
  • Must participate as a team player.
  • Must be able to handle several projects simultaneously.Ability to:
  • Identify, analyze and resolve problems in a timely manner.
  • Develop strategies, action plans, and metrics to monitor results.
  • Effectively communicate ideas to a wide variety of people.
  • Listen to others and appropriately act on information provided.
  • Work in a fast-paced, changing environment.
  • Use a variety of computer programs and systems, at an advanced level, including: Word, Excel, Email, Internet, databases, etc.).

Normal office conditions. Extensive computer and phone work. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.

Light physical effort in an office environment. Some lifting of parts / products may be required in the manufacturing areas.
